Thundercats fall to Muskies in Season Opener

The 2016-2017 Season is underway! The Durham Thundercats started the regular season on the road, taking on the Shelburne Muskies.
It was a chippy game with both teams racking up 30 minutes of penalties over 60 minutes of play. The T-cats got on the board when newcomer Trevor Hughson beat the Muskie goal tender half way through the first. Before the frame ended, however, the game was tied.
Over two periods, the Thundercats and Muskies stayed evenly matched. The shots on net where almost identical and at the end of the period it was still knotted up, now with a score of 2-2 thanks to a goal from Jeff MacMillan.
It was a good effort from T-Cat net-minder Scott Kuglin, stopping 50 shots on the night, but the Hockey gods where not smiling on Durham. In the Third, Shelburne added 3 goals, giving us the final score of Shelburne 5 - Durham 2.
The T-cats will hit the ice again next Saturday Night at 8pm in Tavistock. The home opener will be at 5pm on Saturday October 15th. To celebrate the start of the home season, there will be a free BBQ after the game. Please visit
